Boyd Flotation Hardside Waterbeds

Boyd Flotation logo

Several models of hardside waterbeds by Boyd Specialty Sleep are available at retailers, in stores and online. Four series are named on the Boyd Flotation website, and two other series are carried by retailers. The Regency Series and the Boyd Fiber Series are Presumably older models. The Free Flow Series, Constellation Series, Contura Form Series, and Sea Cove Series are currently listed on Boyd Flotation.

Regency Series

The Regency Series has six models of hardside waterbeds: Regency I, Regency II, Regency III, Regency IV, Regency V, and Regency Comfort Supreme. These are all water mattresses with layer(s) of fiber fill consisting of "memory hi-loft thermal bonded fiber" for wave reduction.

In Regency I through Regency IV, the name indicates the number of fiber layers. Regency V and Regency Comfort Supreme add 3 layers of lumbar support to the wave-reducing layers (4 in Regency V and 5 in Regency Comfort Supreme).

Boyd Regency waterbeds are carried by The Waterbed Doctor, Olejo Stores and Inside-Outside Stores.

Boyd Fiber Series
Boyd Fiber1000-288

The Boyd Fiber Series models are listed by retailers as "Ultra Premium" waterbeds. Each of the fiber-filled water mattresses has one or more tethered wave-reduction fiber layers.

This series has five models: Fiber 1000, Fiber 2500, Fiber 3500, Fiber 4500, and Fiber 5500. These are sold by the same retailers as Boyd Regency models (see above) plus ABC Waterbed, Amazon, and Walmart. Some are sold on eBay. On Walmart, they are listed under the Blue Magic brand, belonging to Boyd Specialty Sleep..

Free Flow Series

This series listed on Boyd Flotation only shows one model, the Free Flow Waterbed Mattress. This full motion waterbed has one-piece/one-lap-seam construction of heavy-duty 18 mil vinyl with reinforced corners. Full-motion waterbeds are valued for their high degree of pressure relief. It is sold online by Walmart as the Blue Magic Night Rest Free Flow Waterbed Mattress.

Constellation Series

A true series, the Constellation Series has six models, Constellation 1 through 5 and Constellation Lumbar. The numbers in the model names refer to the number of wave reduction fiber layers in the models. The C. Lumbar has 5 layers plus a 3-layer lumbar support.

The first two models are semi-waveless waterbeds. Models 3 and 4 are waveless, while 5 and Lumbar are ultra-waveless.

Contura Form Series
contura_form_4_waterbed

Contura Form Series waterbeds are numbered 1 through 6. Models 1-4 have the same number of wave reducing fiber layers as the number in the model name. Contura Form models 5 and 6 have four wave reduction layers, but add three layers of lumbar support. Contura Form 6 also adds a top comfort layer of convoluted polyurethane foam. These models have the same division of semi-waveless, waveless and ultra-waveless as those in the Constellation Series.

All of the mattresses in the Contoura Form Series feature Boyd Flotation's 4-Point Memory-Stretch Tether System. The layers are tethered four ways - to the bottoms of the four corners.

Sea Cove Series

This "series" has a stand-alone model as does the Free Flow Series. This is the Dual Sea Cove Waterbed Mattress. It is an ultra-waveless waterbed with two bladders, one for each sleeper in a couple. The chief advantage of this is all but eliminating motion transfer with its partner disturbance.

The Sea Cove water mattress has four fiber layers for wave reduction and three for lumbar support.

Warranty and Availability

The standard warranty for Boyd Flotation hardside waterbeds is for 5 years with the first year non-prorated. These beds do require regular application of conditioner to the water. They are available through most retailers of waterbeds.
