The middle model in the Premier Collection of Christeli memory foam mattresses is the Versailles. This 10"-high mattress adds the Body5™ Zoned Spinal Support and a non-slip bottom to the features of the Stockholm. It also adds an infusion of healing aloe vera to the cover.
The cover of the Christeli Versailles memory foam mattress features aloe vera. The cover fabric, presumably cotton-polyester, is infused with microencapsuated beads of aloe vera gel. When a sleeper lies on the bed, some of the aloe vera is released to percolate upward to the surface and through the sheets. Aloe vera is well-known for its soothing and healing effects and commonly found in skin care products.
The comfort layer of the Versailles is 3" of Christeli's 5.3-lb. Cool Sleep Memory Foam. While the original memory foam tended to acumulate heat, this version with open-cell structure is ventilated for airflow to cool and freshen the sleeping surface. This permeability also serves to keep the surface dry.
The Ortho-Core™ Support base layer of the Christeli Versailles is 6" thick. The support of this high-density polyurethane foam is shaped by the Body5™ Zoned Spinal Support zoning. The firmness of the foam is varied along its length by 5 areas of the body: head, upper body, middle body, lower body and feet. This zoning helps the foam to conform to the shape of the body for better back support. It is especially beneficial for side sleepers, supporting the sections between the large portions, such as the hips and shoulders, keeping the spine straight.
The bottom surface of the Versailles is non-slip. This keeps the mattress from scooting on the foundation. It also helps keep the edges of the bottom sheet in place.
A well-designed and constructed box spring may be OK for the Versailles, but it is not the preferred foundation. Ideally, memory foam mattresses should have continuous support across the bottom. This incldus platform beds, closely-spaced wood slats, a grid-surfaced steel bed frame (such as the one sold by Christeli), and adjustable beds (Christeli sells the Ergomatic 1000, Ergomatic 4000 and Ergomatic 5000).
