Cool Coil Medley Series
The Medley Series is in the Cool Coil Collection by Carolina Mattress Guild (CMG), a line of hybrid spring-and-foam mattresses. There are two Medley models, the Medley Firm and the Medley Plush.

Cool Coil Collection

The Carolina Mattress Guild Cool Coil Collection combines CMG's Cool Breeze gel memory foam and their individually wrapped Comfort Coils. Carolina Mattress Guild claims that Cool Breeze (also featured in the Cool Flex Collection) is "the most breathable memory foam available today." This is based on its open-cell structure (now commonly used) and the infusion of micro-beads of gel. The structure allows air flow through the layer, and the gel wicks heat from the sleeping surface and carries it away to dissipate.

The individually wrapped Comfort Coils are to respond to the sleeper's body to faithfully configure support to the body's contours. Carolina Mattress Guild says that these coils are "nested" in the middle, where certain areas of the body receive "special attention." This is important for orthopedic support, promoting proper spinal posture.

Medley Models

The Medley Firm and the Medley Plush are the first two models listed of the Carolina Mattress Guild web page for the Cool Coil Collection, with an 805 coil count for Queen size and full foam encasement for edge support. Above this innerspring is the memory foam comfort section.

The comfort section of the Cool Coil Medley Firm and Medley Plush has a 1-inch layer of Cool Breeze gel memory foam. Below this is a 1.5-inch layer of soy foam. This is where the two models are differentiated. This layer is "cushion-firm" in the Medley Firm and "plush" in the Medley Plush. Also, the Plush adds over an inch of plush foam on top. The content of this layer is not specified, but since the materials listed on retailers' sites include latex, it may be here.

The care instructions for the Cool Coil Medley mattresses is to "Spot clean the mattress surface only." This is because penetrating liquids can cause materials inside the mattress to deteriorate, voiding the warranty. Use of a mattress protector is recommended.

The recommended foundations for the Cool Coil Medley Firm and Medley Plush are the orthopedic foundation in either 9" standard or 5" low profile height. These models are also adjustable compatible.

The cover fabric for the Cool Coil Medley Firm and Medley Plush is not named on the website, but a list of materials used by Carolina Mattress Guild includes Organic Cotton Ticking, Bamboo Ticking, REPREVE® Based Ticking, Silk Fibers & Wool Fibers, and Thermo-Gel Fabric.

The Medley Firm and Medley Plush models in the Cool Coil Collection carry a Carolina Mattress Guild 10-year warranty.
