Viva is the third series in the CRāVE Collection of innerspring mattresses by Carolina Mattress Guild. There are three models in this series: Viva Cushion Firm, Viva Plush, and Viva Plush Pillowtop.
Like the Aura Series models, mattresses in the Viva Series have an innerspring unit of 713 individually wrapped pocket coils (also called Marshall coils). These independently responding coils conform to the shape and weight of a sleeper's body for even support, relief of pressure points, and preservation of spinal posture. These coils are zoned for more support where needed most.
Also like Aura Series mattresses, Viva models have a thick top comfort layer of Cool Breeze gel memory foam. This soy-based memory foam with an enhanced open-cell structure is infused with gel. Memory foam was developed for pressure-relieving conformity. Gel enhances support of the memory foam. It is also a heat conductor, carrying heat away from the sleeping surface. Coupled with the open-cell memory foam, this is for a cooling effect.
Viva Series models differ from their Aura Series counterparts in having double layers of soy-based comfort foam. This makes these mattresses slightly less firm for the same firmness of foam. The soy foam is firm in the Viva Cushion Firm, cushion firm in the Viva Plush, and plush in the Viva Plush Pillowtop. All CMG foams are certified by CertiPur-US as free from certain harmful substances. Also, being plant-oil foams reduces use of petroleum.
Around the innerspring units of the Viva Series mattresses is foam encasement which serves as edge support for the surface to forestall roll-offs and extend usability of the top to the edges. Together with the shock-absorbing soy-foam base pad, it protects the coils from damage and misalignment.
The Stability Foundation by Carolina Mattress Guild comes in a choice of height: 9" Standard or 5" Low Profile. These foundations are wood platforms made from North American forest-harvested pine, spruce and fir. They are upholstered to coordinate with the mattresses. Traditional box springs are definitely not recommended for pocket coil mattresses. Some other CMG mattresses are listed as compatible with adjustable beds, but not those in the Viva Series.
