The 10" Memory Foam Mattress is the sole mattress currently listed by Healthy Foundations, a memory foam products firm in Boulder, Colorado. It has a five-layer design. They have featured this memory foam mattress for a number of years. David Rosenberg, the owner of Healthy Foundations, says, "No mattress I've ever carried in all these years, has gotten the type of ratings and reviews as our current Healthy Foundations 10" Memory Foam Mattress."
In selecting the best mattress to sell, Healthy Foundations used crowd based technology: they let people decide which of six memory foam mattresses was the best. In Rosenberg's words, "We Had 313 People Try Out 6 Different Memory Foam Mattresses In Their Own Homes, For At Least 3 Months, And Then Review Their Sleep Experience Online To Help Us Identify The Most Comfortable Memory Foam Mattress Anywhere." The one the crowd chose by a wide margin is the one listed.
The five-layer configuration of the Healthy Foundations 10" Memory Foam Mattress is simple to summarize: two base foam support core layers, two comfort layers of memory foam, and the cover.
The support core of the 10" Memory Foam Mattress consists of two 3" layer of high density polyurethane foam. Both are convoluted (eggcrate surface) on the top side, and both are 2.3-lb foam, but the upper layer is softer than the lower. The eggcrate surfaces promote airflow for freshness and cooling.
The two 2" comfort layers are memory foam, the material made famous for its contouring conformity that relieves pressure by supporting the body evenly at all points. The top layer is 4-lb foam, and the second layer 5-lb. So, from the bottom of the mattress to the top, the level of support is graded.
In addition to pressure relief, memory foam also dampens motion transfer, which means minimal sleep disturbance when one sleeping partner moves. So when Mrs. Sleeper gets up to check on the baby, Mr. Sleeper keeps dreaming (or vice versa).
The cover of the Healthy Foundations 10" Memory Foam Mattress consists of CoolMax fibers made by Invista (formerly DuPont Textiles). CoolMax is essentially polyester with fibers engineered to channel moisture. Originally designed to be used in clothing worn during extreme exertion (and heavy sweating), CoolMax is used by several mattress manufacturers in their covers to keep the sleeping surface dry. The drawn-out moisture also readily evaporates, cooling the surface.
The graduated support from bottom to top is what Healthy Foundations credits with the satisfaction rates (96%) for the 10" Memory Foam Mattress. This concept is seen in the more popular mattress of several companies, so this is a valid evaluation.
Healthy Foundations has a 365-day return policy and a 10-year non-prorated warranty for the 10" Memory Foam Mattress. The company does not sell foundations, but does recommend the kind of support that comes with a platform or an adjustable bed.
