King Koil revised its iMattress brand of memory foam mattresses in 2014 with the updated G Series for the 2015 market year. The G Series has four models from the basic iG2 to the high end iG8. the key features of this series are a zippered cover, iFusion gel memory foam, and the Perfect Form Core support unit. To these basic features, the higher models add other components such as Super Soft Foam Wave Foam, Reacta Foam, and Plush Latex. These specialty sleep mattresses are mid-priced, making them affordable for many consumers. All models are available in any of six sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, California King.
The comfort level of the iG2 is Medium, the iG4 and iG6 are Plush, and the iG8 is Medium Plush.
The top or the second layer of a G Series mattress is TriFusion Foam. Other than the name, details of this foam are not provided.
iFusion is a blending of open-cell memory foam and gel. King Koil touts this material as supportive and conforming. Memory foam itself was developed to be conforming to relieve pressure, and gel adds support.
Memory foam normally builds up heat when in use. The open-cell structure helps to cool it, and the gel conducts heat away. King Koil ventilates its iFusion further to allow more air to flow through to make it even cooler.
Perfect Form is a high density foam. As the support core, it supports the entire mattress and the sleeper(s), keeping users from bottoming out in the softer foams. This prolongs the life of the upper foams and assures full support for the users. The balance between this support foam and the comfort foam is intended to keep the spine of a sleeper in good position for better back health.
The cover is zippered to be removed for spot cleaning or dry cleaning. Additional details are not provided, but photos indicate that the top panel is likely a knit. The side panels (borders) have mesh for ventilation.
The above features are all in the iG2. To these the iG4 adds Super Soft Foam Wave Foam. This very soft foam is fashioned in a configuration of wave patterns. This is to foster continuous airflow while dampening motion disturbance.
Instead of Wave Foam, the iG6 adds Reacta Foam (ReactaFOM in the diagrams). King Koil says this combines the properties of memory foam and high-density resilient foams. The cradling support is described as being more like that of water. The effect, they say, is "a steady feel." Unlike memory foam, Reacta is not temperature sensitive. King Koil calls this their most popular iMattress model.
The iG8 adds a layer of plush latex to the components of the iG6. This Natural AirFlo™ Latex is the 3rd layer down, between the iFusion and the Reacta. The role of this latex is to add resiliency while being soft. Since latex foam is naturally breathable, and this latex is perforated for ventilation, it is expected to keep the mattress cool and fresh. It is the latex which makes the iG8 less plush than the iG4 and iG6.
Each G Series mattress has a base pad of what King Koil calls Enhanced Balance Base Foam. This protects the underside of the mattress while also serving as a shock absorber.
The foundation provided for the new G Series iMattresses is a Natural Wood Foundation made by Amish craftsmen. It has wooden sides and a top of closely-spaced wood slats. Besides supporting the mattress and elevating it for ease of getting in and out of bed, the construction allows the bottom of the mattress to breathe. The foundation is covered in a dark fabric compatible with the mattress cover. G Series mattresses are also compatible with adjustable beds.
