Natural Living - Traditional Innerspring Series
The
Natural Living Collection by
Carolina Mattress Guild (CMG) features what
CMG calls "some of the healthiest and most sustainable ingredients that nature has to offer." The key feature is the bamboo fiber mattress ticking. The yarn is made from "100% natural bamboo pulp fiber." Bamboo plants are naturally resistant to most pests, therefore the fibers resist mold and bacteria. They are also hypoallergenic. Additionally, bamboo fibers wick moisture and regulate temperature.
The
CMG Natural Living Collection has three series, based on the support:
Soy Foam Core,
Traditional Innerspring and
Individually Wrapped Comfort Coils. The 11
Traditional Innerspring mattress heights range from 8 to 12.75 inches.
The support for the
Traditional Innerspring series mattresses, called
Body Comfort Coil System, uses an array of connected
coils. Of the five model sets in this series, most have a coil count of 416, but
Energy models have 805. The coils for
Viva are 13 gauge.
Body Comfort Innerspring
All of the
Natural Living Traditional Innerspring mattresses have one or more comfort layers made of
Hybrid Soy Foam. The polyols for this foam are made of soy oil and castor oil. Some petroleum is still used in this foam, but only 40% (CMG actually says that 60% less petroleum product is used).
Carolina Mattress Guild cites not only a reduction in petroleum use with this foam, but they note the amount of carbon dioxide consumed by the soy and castor plants. Several of the
Hybrid Soy Foam layers used are convoluted for airflow and conformity.
Soy foam is also used in the cover quilting. The quilted covers of
Traditional Innerspring models also include silk and wool fibers for a non-chemical fire retardant.
Some of the models in the
Traditional Innerspring series have lumbar support of
ComforLatex, made of
Natural Latex.
Natural Living's
Traditional Innerspring models use foam encasement for perimeter and edge support. The recommended base for all
Carolina Mattress Guild Natural Living mattresses, including the
Traditional Innerspring models, is
CMG's 9" high
Coordinated Stability Foundation, made of spruce pine from North American forests. It is designed for the
CMG mattresses and is needed to keep the warranty in effect.
Natural Living Traditional Innerspring mattresses carry
Carolina Mattress Guild's CWE 10-year warranty. These models are available through
CMG dealers in several eastern states plus Kentucky and Texas.
Since this covers several models, the level of firmness selected below does not apply to all.
