Royal-Pedic's
Premiere Natural Organic Collection and
Natural Organic Collection. They both feature a natural latex mattress core with the benefits of latex. They both use chemical-free French wool. And they both have quilted covers. But they also differ on a handful of particulars, in which the models in the
Premier Organic Collection have features that are upgrades from the
Natural Organic Collection.
Latex Mattress Core - The heart of each of these mattresses is the support core, which is made of 100% all-natural latex. It is made from the sap (latex milk) of the Brasilian rubber tree, grown on plantations in Malaysia and Indonesia. As such, this is a sustainable resource which also provides steady work for many. This latex milk is shipped to the United States and England to be made into foam using the Talalay process. A link on the Royal-Pedic website explains the Talalay process.
Latex is known for several benefits. It is very supportive and resilient, yet also flexible, so it conforms to the curves of sleepers' bodies. Latex is resistant to dust mites, bacteria, mold and mildew. The
Premiere model is configured into 7 zones to tailor support for different areas of the body (head, shoulders, low back, hips, knees, lower legs, feet). The latex core in the
Natural Organic model is single-zoned, but it can be upgraded to the 7-zones core.
French Wool - In both the
Royal Latex Organic Quilt-Top Mattress and
Natural Organic Latex Quilt-Top Mattress, the padding above the natural latex support core is French wool, which has been pre-compressed to protect the foam from body impressions. This wool, from sheep raised in France, is chemical-free. The sheep are not subjected to feed which is processed with chemicals - they graze outside in pastures not treated with chemicals. They are not dipped in chemical baths or given hormones and antibiotics. And after the wool is shorn (only from the back and belly), it is washed with soap and water, not chemical cleaning agents. Besides the benefits of cushioning and temperature regulation, wool is also a natural fire retardant, and its use meets federal fire resistance standards without the use of chemical flame retardants.
Cover Fabric - The French wool is quilted into the cover. The fabric in the
Premiere mattress is German-woven organic cotton damask with the Royal-Pedic logo woven in. Organic cotton is grown and processed without the use of pesticides and herbicides or other chemicals. The cover fabric in the
Natural Organic model is a solid organic cotton canvas produced in the United States. On ordering this mattress, the cover fabric (ticking) can be upgrades to the German-woven material of the
Premiere.
The standard foundations for these two quilted latex mattresses are
Royal-Pedic box springs. The
Royal H2 Box Spring is standard for the
Natural Organic Latex Quilt-Top Mattress, but it can be upgrades to the
, which is standard with the Royal Latex Organic Quilt-Top Mattress. The Double Diamond has about 22% more coils that the industry standard box spring. It is also zoned, with more coils in the middle third of the box spring for more support to the heavies section of the sleeper's body.
These Royal-Pedic mattresses are made-to-order, so any upgrades or custom specifications can be included in the order and priced accordingly. Royal-Pedic mattresses and box spring carry a 10-year warranty.
