Royal-Pedic Deluxe Adjustable Bed
A Royal-Pedic Deluxe Adjustable Bed is more than an articulated, motor-driven steel bed frame. It is a complete bed: adjustable frame, flexible box spring, and mattress. In keeping with other products by Royal-Pedic, this is a luxury item, hand-manufactured with premium materials and engineering and priced accordingly ($$$$$).

At the bottom of the Royal-Pedic Deluxe Adjustable Bed is the adjustable bed frame. The frame is entirely of steel. Its articulation is a wall-hugger design, now standard on adjustable bases, which allows the head to remain in the same longitudinal position. This means that the bed can be put right next to any other piece of furniture. It also means that when the head is elevated, the user does not have to turn or reach back to see or get an item on the nightstand. The rollers are rubber, making operation quiet and smooth.

The Royal-Pedic Deluxe Adjustable Bed has five standard positions:


The motors are "German engineered." No other deetails of the motors themselves are given, except that they have "Solid, state-of-the-art construction" and are "Maintenance free." The electrical system is cnfigured to eliminate stray wires, and components can be plugged in, making service easy.

A popular optional feature of the Royal-Pedic Deluxe Adjustable Bed is the dual massage system. The massage motors are built into the frame, and have no extra noise according to Royal-Pedic. The role of the massage is to "help alleviate stress and promote relaxation."

Atop the adjustable frame is the foundation. Three sizes (Twin XL, Full XL and Queen) have a flexible box spring with steel coils. The King sizes have a base of high density polyurethane foam, but they can be ordered with side-by-side Twin XL box springs. The box spring is more durable and yields greater relief from pressure points.

The default mattress on the Royal-Pedic Deluxe Adjustable Bed is the 9" high Royal-Pedic Latex Quilted Top Mattress. This features latex layers which are configures into 7-Zones of Comfort & Orthopedic Support (see the illustration in the Royal Latex article).

The heart of the Royal Latex Quilted Top Mattress is the 7-zone latex support core. Long-staple organic cotton is han-layered to either side of this core." The cover is Belgian organic cotton damask fabric quilted qith New Zealan untreated wool, giving the mattress a soft feel while making it breathable. Being two-sided, this mattress can be flipped for freshness as well as for extending its usable life. If you want even more softness, you can purchase a Royal-Pedic top pad, available in 3", 4" and 5" thicknesses.
