The
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress by
Royal-Pedic differs from the
Royal-Pedic All Cotton Mattress in using only organically grown and processed cotton and in having no chemical sprays and no fire retardants.
In order to meet federal flammability standards, because of the absence of fire retardants in the
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress a physician's note or Rx, certifying that the customer is allergic or excessively sensitive to chemicals and wool, is needed to purchase and use this mattress. This note is not needed for the
Organic Cotton Mattress w/Wool Wrap, since wool is a fire retardant.
Like the
Royal-Pedic All Cotton Mattress, the
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress and the
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Wool Wrap, with a comfort level of ultra-firm, share the status of being the firmest
Royal-Pedic mattresses, providing "buoyant, orthopedic support."
The layers of cotton padding are enclosed in German-woven organic cotton ticking. This is breathable and moisture relieving, making the sleeping surface cool and dry.
Support in the
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress and the
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Wool Wrap is provided by the Royal-Flex® 760i Innerspring System, a Swiss-designed and engineered unit with open-ended coils of only six turns which are untied and free to conform to the shape and weight of sleepers' bodies. This coil system is supported by the T-Spring Support System aroung the perimeter which provides edge support to the mattress.
Heavy-duty canvas fabric of organic cotton covers the innerspring unit. This cotton cover is to protect the cotton padding layers and keep them in place. Being organic cotton means that sleepers are not exposed to toxic, irritating, and/or allergenic chemicals.
All the layers of these mattresses are held in place by European tufting straps, which are hand-tufted into the mattress without the use of buttons (which can flip on edge, producing discomfort).
The
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Wool Wrap adds the use of French wool wrap, which is untreated and thus free from chemicals. The advantages of the wool in this model are:
1. Wool is a natural fire retardant. This eliminates the need for chemicals to meet federal flammability standards.
2. Wool is dust mite resistant.
3. Wool wicks moisture, carrying it away from the sleeping surface, thus keeping the surface dry.
4. Wool also has natural temperature regulating properties, helping to keep the sleeping surface from becoming too hot or too cold.
The
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress and the
Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Wool Wrap carry a 10-year non-prorated warranty. There is a 14-day trial period. Use of the
Royal-Pedic Double Diamond Box Spring is required by the warranty.
These models are available at most places where other Royal-Pedic mattresses are sold.
