The Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Latex & Wool Wrap are two-sided innerspring mattresses. The support core is the Swiss engineered Royal-Flex® 760i Innerspring System. The coils are open-ended to allow them to adjust more quickly to weight from above, a feature also facilitated by being unknotted as well as having six turns. The coil count is about twice that of standard innerspring units, which with independent coils should mean more fidelity to body contours as well as a greater ability to support weight.

Perimeter support for the Royal-Flex core is provided by T-Spring side supports, which also yield edge support for the entire mattress, including the sleeping surface.

On either side of the innerspring system, Royal-Pedic artisans have hand-layered certified organic long-staple cotton as comfort padding. This is to make the sleeping surface consistently supportive, smoothing out the feel of the coils. Heavy organic cotton canvas (10 oz.) keeps the cotton padding from sinking into the coils.

Added to the organic cotton are layers of natural Talalay latex. This is to give aditional softness. An added advantage is that latex is resistant to dust mites and is anti-bacterial. It is also a sustainable resource, since it is a botanical product.

The cotton and latex layers are wrapped in untreated French wool. This is immediately beneath the 100% organic, German woven cotton ticking. The wool is breathable and naturally regulates temperature. It is also a natural fire retardant, enabling the Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Latex & Wool Wrap to meet federal flammability standards for bedding without chemicals.

A signature feature of the Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Latex & Wool Wrap is the Royal-Pedic hand tufting. This uses English tufting straps for compression of the cotton padding, which is to give it the needed firmness for orthopedic support. Royal-Pedic's tufting does not use buttons. This is to avoid having them flip on their sides and make sleepers uncomfortable.

The recommended base for the Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Latex & Wool Wrap is the Royal-Pedic Double Diamond Box Spring. It has 22% more coils than for the same size standard box spring. And at 8.75 gauge, the coils are heavier, too. To better support the torso, where most of the body weight is, the coil density is greater in the middle third of the box spring. The top of the Royal-Pedic Double Diamond Box Spring is covered with an organic cotton pad to protect the underside of the mattress. Additionally, the corner guards are made of brass, not plastic, making them more durable.

The Royal-Pedic Organic Cotton Mattress w/Latex & Wool Wrap is not as widely listed as other Royal-Pedic mattresses.
