The 2015 Perfect Sleeper Collection by Serta has three models named Pennyfield: Pennyfield Super Pillow Top Elite, Pennyfield Plush Elite, Pennyfield Firm Elite. All three innerspring mattresses feature the support unit of Custom Support® Individual Advantage® wrapped pocket coils, Cool Action™ Gel Memory Foam, Cool Balance® Elite Technology, TrueSense® 4.0 design with 4-way motion isolation, ComfortLast® Construction, and Total Edge® Foam Encasement. With heights of 12" and 10½", this is the second highest group of Perfect Sleeper mattresses.
The Individual Advantage innerspring is the same as in the Reedsworth models. The carbon steel coils are kept in place in fabric pockets. Not tied to each other, they respond independently to relieve pressure on shoulders and hips while supporting the lower back. Pocket coils also isolate motion to minimize partner disturbance.
The Total Edge® Foam Encasement around the pocket coil innerspring keeps the coils in place for more consistent response. This also supplies edge support for the sleeping surface to resist roll-offs and edge sag. This makes the entire top surface area suitable for sleeping out to the edges. It also makes it easier and safer to get in and out of bed and to sit on the edge.
Cool Action Gel Memory Foam is designed for both cooling and enhanced support. Serta's proprietary MicroSupport gel is infused into memory foam. This makes the support more fluid-like. This foam is used in iComfort mattresses, and was introduced into Perfect Sleeper models in 2015. This memory foam also relieves pressure and isolates motion. Together they constitute the "TrueSense® 4.0 design with 4-way motion isolation."
The gel infusion is also part of the Cool Balance® Elite Technology (source of "Elite" in the model names). Cool Balance Elite also includes the stretch-knit performance fabric in the cover, airflow design for the mattress (open-cell structure and vertical ventilation in the foams), and airflow through the coils.
Besides the Cool Action Gel Memory Foam, other foams are found in the comfort section of the Pennyfield models. The Pennyfield Firm has a layer of Serta® Support Foam. The same layer in the Pennyfield Plush is Serta® PillowSoft™ Foam. The Pennyfield Pillow Top adds an additional layer to the Plush. This pillow top has another Serta material, Comfort XD™ Foam, billed as "soft yet supportive." These foam layers give the Pennyfield Elite models a range of comfort levels from Medium Firm to Extra Plush.
The Pennyfield Firm and Plush are 10½" high, and the Pillow Top is 12" high.
Three foundations are named with the Perfect Sleeper Pennyfield mattresses. One is an advanced design (with "V" supports) box spring. the StabL Base Foundation. Another is the Pivot Head-Up, an upgrade from flat foundations with an adjustable head section. The third is another adjustable bed sold by Serta, the Motion Essentials II. The Pennyfield models are also compatible with the other Seta Motion adjustable foundations.
The Pennyfield Elite mattresses are available online directly from Serta. They are also available through several retailers. Some retailers have a different name for this series; for instance, on Amazon the Pennyfield Firm Elite is called Northlight Firm.
All Perfect Sleeper Pennyfield mattresses are covered by Serta's non-prorated 10-year manufacturers warranty.
