Strobel Organic Mattresses (Strobel Technologies) makes airbeds, but does not give much information about them. Unlike their waterbeds, which are generally highly ranked by consumers in online reviews, not much is said about their airbeds elsewhere on the web.
Strobel does show a photo of one of their airbeds with the cover opened to show what is inside. The caption says that the top comfort layer is their Polyfilex memory foam, a key feature of Supple-Pedic models. Several cover styles are available, not unexpected for a waterbed manufacturer.
They also say that a Strobel airbed can be coverted to a waterbed by replacing the air chambers in the cavity with a softside waterbed bladder or water tubes. If the reverse is true, that one of Strobel's waterbeds can be converted to an airbed, then their airbeds would be basically the same as the softside waterbed models, but with air. Then it would be similar to the Convert-A-Bed concept of two InnoMax brands, Comfort Craft and Luxury Support.
Airbeds from Strobel have three options for the air pumps. One is the standard pump. another is the two-speed pump. The third option is a digitally controlled air pump with memory–just save your setting instead of going through the selection process all over again.
In the photo above, the two foam pads are evidently different, such as latex and memory foam. In Strobel softside waterbeds, larger sizes have the dual comfort option of different comfort materials for either side. This appears to be true for their airbed models.
One air support technology item which does attract attention is Strobel's Air-Lever Option, related to the company's Lever-Support System featured in the Supple-Pedic line of mattresses. More about this is said by Strobel.
Instead of a teeter-totter action, the Air-Lever works by differential displacement. If you inflate a camping air mattress about 75-85%, you can mimic this effect. Press down on one part, and the rest pops up. Now press down with two hands far apart, and the part in the middle pushes up.
How this air system works like the levers is this: When a large part of the body pesses down on the air-assist bladder, other places push up. This means that the small of the back and the neck get equal support with the head, shoulder and hips. The photo shows that this aids in proper spinal posture, even when lying on your side.
Strobel does not say how long the warranties are on their airbeds, but I am estimating 20 years. The air assist option for Supple-Pedic bears the 30-year warranty.
