The ThevoCare Professional Care Mattress by Thomashilfen has a lot in common with the other adult Thevo Therapeutic Mattresses: ThevoRelief, ThevoVital, ThevoCalm, ThevoActiv, and ThevoFlex. One thing it does not have in common—it is not specifically designed for any one condition as the others are. While the other models are designed to meet the needs of patients with chronic pain, dementia, Parkinson's, pressure ulcers, wheelchair confinement, or needing sensory support, ThevoCare is intended for professional use generally. It is also available for home healthcare use, whether by visiting or residential caregivers.
The underlying concept of ThevoCare is that it takes more than a memory foam or air chamber mattress to provide optimal care fulfilling professional standards, even with a full-articulation hospital bed (adjustable base). Thomashilfen meets these demands by combining a foam mattress with an underlying self-adjusting support system (a quasi foundation). Special consideration is given to the many possible positions a sleeper could assume. The goal is for for the bed itself to adjust to the the sleeper's position, no matter what it is.
The key feature of Thomashilfen's ThevoCare is the MiS Micro-Stimulation® system of Wing Suspension and circle-8 shock-absorbing suspension mounts. The "wings" react to movements by a user to relieve pressure.
MiS Micro-Stimulation® components are made of a flexible glass-like material. The "wings" are mounted on rods in a teeter-totter fashion so more pressure on one end pushes the other end up. Each reaction is local, so the effect depends on the configuration (size, shape and weight) of the sleeper.
The mounts are made of carbon fibers, giving them a spring-like resilience (the same principal used in carbon fiber fishing rods). The actual stiffness of this component in the other Thevo Mobility Mattress models is determined by the specific needs of patients with specific conditions. In the ThevoCare, this stiffness and the specifications of the Wing Suspension are set to be suitable for most users. If a healthcare patient's needs are outside the parameters of this bed, the caregiver or facility is encouraged to consider a specialized Thevo model.
The "mattress" in the top section of the ThevoCare is a layer of firm foam which is relief cut for flexibility and cooling air flow. It has additional air channels for ventilation.
The cover of the ThevoCare comes in a choice of materials (both red). The jersey knit is softer and more breathable. The Incontinence Cover is impermeable to liquids, yet breathable and wipe-cleanable. Both can be removed and washed.
As with the other Thevo Mobility Mattresses, the ThevoCare Professional Care Mattress is covered by a dual warranty: lifetime on the support system and 10 years on the surface (cover and mattress).
