A is for Active in the name of the ThevoSleepingStar A. While the ThevoSleepingStar children's mattress, distributed in the United States and Canada by Thomashilfen North America, is described as a "Sensory Support Mattress," The ThevoSleepingStar A is a "Sensory Input Mattress." Its adjustment of support by a wired remote is like that of the ThevoActiv mattress for active relief of pressure ulcers (bed sores). This is a greater degree of adjustment than the automatic adjustment of the MiS Micro-Stimulation of the Wing Suspension system in the ThevoSleepingStar (this mattress also has that system).
This level of adjustment is for a higher degree of special needs children. According to Thomashilfen, the German manufacturer, "Children with severe motor limitations need additional movement impulses."
Wave ~ ~ ~ ~ Rotation ~ ~ ~ ~ Inclined Plane ~ ~ ~ ~ Static
This is a powered bed. The program on the remote selects three patterns of stimulating movement plus a static state (no active stimulation). The stimulatiing movements are electric actuators controlled electronically. Technologically, this is similar to how some mattress massage functions operate, such as the Night Magic Sleep Massage Therapy by Innomax.
Like the ThevoSleepingStar, the ThevoSleepingStar A has a layer of firm mattress foam at the top, just under the cover. This foam is configured for airflow and flexibility with relief cuts and air channels. The actuators conduct their impulses through this layer.
The profile photo shows the mattress foam layer suspended above the underframe to display the edge of the underframe and the Wing Suspension. In use, the foam sits on the wings.
The cover of the ThevoSleepingStar A is the same as the on the ThevoSleepingStar, the Incontinence Cover, which is breathable, liquid resistant, and can be wiped clean. It is also removable and washable, thanks to a zipper on each side. Under the cover is an incontinence liner for further protection of the mattress interior.
The ThevoSleepingStar A can be used with any foundation or bed providing the necessary consistent support. These include platform beds, hosital beds, adjustable beds, and slatted beds frames with slats no more than 2" apart.
The Thomashilfen ThevoSleepingStar A is covered by a 2-year warranty. A chart lists the expected lifetime with normal use as 7 years plus. This model is available in several countries, including the United States and Canada.
