The Feather Edge Flotation softside waterbeds by Vinyl Products Manufacturing (VP) have the same top and enclosure as VP's Feather Edge Adjustable Air Beds. For the Flotation models, the signal feature setting them off from most softside waterbed brands is the Anti-Bow & Anti-Dish Rigid Plastic sides in place of the foam rails which are the waterbed frame in most of the others. Foam is glued to these rigid sides to cushion the water bladder, but the plastic gives it more stability.
The four Feather Edge Flotation models are listed in two pairs: Pillowtop H20 Hybrids and and Standard H20 Hybrids, The Pillowtop models are Egret and Phoenix, while Swan and Dove are the Standard beds.
Both Pillowtop H20 Hybrid flotation beds have 8" cavities with a choice of VP's Dream Weaver Fiber Firm 3 Extra-Firm semi-waveless (80%) or Fiber Firm 6 Ultra-Firm waveless (99%) water mattress. The two Standard H20 Hybrid flotation models have 4" cavities with VP Dream Weaver Gold Star water mattresses. These have 4" of fiber in the Swan, and 2" in the Dove.
The water mattress in each Feather Edge bed is topped with a 2" layer of convoluted foam in a vapor barrier. The vapor barrier is to keep the foam dry. The convoluted foam provides some conformity for presure relief.
The covers on the Feather Edge Flotation beds are zippered for access and cleaning. On the Pillowtop beds, this is 360° for removing the pillow top. The Standard beds are zippered on three sides simply for opening the top.
The 12" Egret has 1" of wool and 2" of Dacron polyester fiber in the pillow top. The Phoenix's pillow top is filled with 1½" of Dacron and ¾" of polyurethane foam. The cover fiber is not named, but the cloth in all four models is a Burlington Damask.
Swan is 9" and Dove 8" in height. The difference is the thick quilting under the cover fabric on the Swan.
The water mattresses for Vinyl Products' Feather Edge Flotation beds have solid state heaters.
The Pillowtop H20 Hybrid models have a 15-year warranty on the top and enclosure with 5 years full and 10 years prorated. For the Standard H20 Hybrid flotation beds, this is 10 years. For all models, the water mattress has a 14 (5/9) warranty. Among retailers carrying these are The Waterbed Doctor, The Airbed Doctor, and Wayfair.
