The next highest model after Optimum Radiance Gold The next highest model after Optimum Destiny Gold in the 2015 Optimum Collection of gel-infused memory foam mattresses by Sealy is the Optimum Radiance Gold. This 11" high mattress has the same features as the Destiny Gold and the other mattresses in the memory foam series in this collection. The circular knit cover of the Optimum Radiance Gold has a different pattern than the other Optimum models. Other than that, it is the same. This breathable cover is stretchable to allow the user to take full advantage of the memory foam just below, a choice made by most mattress manufacturers for models with memory foam top layers. Like the other models in this collction, the Optimum Radiance Gold has a 2" top layer of OptiCool Gel Memory Foam. Outlast 2.0 Gold (from Outlast, Inc.) is fused to the OptiCool. Outlast was developed for NASA for space suits and instrument casings to protect astronauts and sensitive equipment from extreme temperatures. Phase change materials (PCMs) are embedded in the fibers of this fabric. The PCMs change their physical states, releasing or absorbing heat to keep temperatures within a specified range. The second layer down is 2" of OptiSense Gel Memory Foam. Destiny Gold has only 1" of this foam, while there is 3" in Inspiration Gold and 4" in Elation Gold. Described as "body hugging," this memory foam infused with gel conforms to body contours for pressure relief and support of the lower back. The 7" support core of the Optimum Radiance Gold is Sealy's Gel OptiCore. It was 6" in the previous version of this model, the Optimum Destiny. This is very firm high-density polyurethane support foam infused with gel. The increase in height may be in response to problems with support in models of the previous version of the Sealy Optimum Collection. Recommended foundations for the Optimum Radiance Gold are the Optimum Foundation (more like a platform than traditional box springs), and the Sealy adjustable beds Reflexion Up Foundation and Reflexion 4 Adjustable Base. The Optimum Radiance Gold is available at several retailers.
