From Serta's own website –

Serta is proud to be the manufacturer of the World’s Best Mattress™. Our commitment to quality has made us a leader in the industry, and we look forward to helping you find the right mattress so you can get a better night’s sleep for years to come.

The History of Serta® Mattresses

In 1931, an assembly of independent mattress manufacturers joined forces. They realized that their future rested on the ability to compete with name recognition and advertising dollars of emerging national companies.

In 1933, the manufacturers organized their companies under one name—Serta—and set national guidelines for the products they would make and market under that brand name.

In creating its flagship mattress, the Perfect Sleeper®, these entrepreneurs struck a powerful balance. They developed a nationally recognized brand as well as a network of local companies dedicated to growing their retail partners’ businesses.

Serta Update 2015

As other manufacturers of mattresses, beds and bedding, Serta has revised its website. It still features the Counting Sheep and the seal of the National Sleep Foundation. The tabs hang down on the left side of the home page: Shop by Collection, Shop by Type, Accessories, Mattress Guide, Promotions, About Serta, and Buy Online. The first two tabs are highlighted. At the bottom of the list is a search box.  When a visitor scrolls down past the bottom of the tab list, the tabs spread across the top of the page.

The first tab displays a hover list of seven collections plus the Serta Mattress Selector. The seven collections are Perfect Sleeper®, iComfort® Sleep System, iSeries® Collections (iSeries® Hybrid Sleep System, Trump Home™ iSeries®, and Bellagio® at Home iSeries®), and Serta® Brand Collections (Bellagio® at Home, Hotel Mattresses, and Sertapedic®). *Note that Bellagio at Home is listed twice because it has more than one mattress type in its collection.

The types of mattresses listed are Innerspring, Memory Foam, and Memory Foam Hybrid. Innerspring Mattresses includes models from four collections: Perfect Sleeper®, Sertapedic®, Hotel Mattresses, and Bellagio® at Home. Memory Foam Mattresses includes the iComfort® Sleep System. Memory Foam Hybrid Mattresses includes the iSeries® Collections.

The Accessories listed by Serta are Adjustable Foundations (the Serta® Motion Collection™), Pillows (14 models), Mattress Accessories (blankets, sheets, StabL-Base® bed frames) and Pet Beds. The only foundations listed by Serta are the adjustable beds made by Ergomotion (the Serta Motion Collection). The "box spring" or box foundation for mattresses sold without an adjustable bed are not mentioned.

The Mattress Guide has several articles in four categories: Getting Started (Types of Mattresses, What’s in a Mattress, Sleep Tips), Shopping Sense (Shopping Tips, Mattress Selector, Mattress Sizes), Mattress Care (10 Care Tips, Product Warranty & Registration), and Mattress Help (Mattress Help, Ask the Experts, Mattress Glossary).

Promotions are of three kinds: Serta National Promotions, Serta's Online Store Promotions, and Ongoing Promotions (sign up for email).

The About Serta tab opens up several lines of information about the company. This tab is highly organized, with sections of press releases, information about the company, connecting with Serta, and the Counting Sheep, with several items in each section. No more "scratching with the chickens" to find what you want to know. By the way, users can download Counting Sheep images for their desktop wallpaper or screen saver.

Under the Buy Online tab, you can shop by price, by the foundation, and by the comfort level. On the left is a list of their best selling mattresses as well as a list of Serta's collections (excluding the Trump and Bellagio series which are sold through their namesake sites). The model names on the Serta site are not necessarily the same as those found in retail stores or on retailer websites.

 Serta, 2016 Update

In 2015, Serta had four mattress collections: Perfect Sleeper, iComfort Sleep System, iSeries and Serta Brand Collections. The Perfect Sleeper Collection has innerspring mattresses with pocket coil support. iComfort Sleep System models are memory foam mattresses. And the two series in the iSeries Collection are the iSeries Hybrid Sleep System and the Bellagio at Home iSeries group. Serta Brands consists of everything not in the other three collections.

At the 2016 Winter Market in Las Vegas, Serta introduced their new iComfort Sleep System lineup, which is scheduled to be released nationwide in the middle of the year. More than new and upgraded models, this brings Serta's hybrid mattresses into the iComfort Collection. Though not specifically stated, this appears to merge the iComfort and iSeries collections. Whether this means no division of the Bellagio at Home collection remains to be seen.

Serta has outlined the overall makeup of the new iComfort series along with the price ranges. From their press release, these are as follows:

• 8 all-foam models from $1,499 - $2,499499 (MSRP for standard queen set) featuring Serta’s EverFeel ® Triple EffectsGel Memory Foam and Ultimate Edge ® Foam Support, with 3 models featuring the SmartSupport ® Memory Coil System.
• 11 quilted hybrid models from $1,299 - $3,499 (MSRP for standard queen set) designed to look and feel like traditional mattresses and featuring Serta’s EverFeel® Triple EffectsGel Memory Foam and Duet® Coil System with Best Edge® Foam Encasement. 3 models feature the SmartSupport® Memory Coil System.
• 8 non-quilted hybrid models from $1,499 - $3,499 (MSRP for standard queen set) featuring Serta’s EverFeel® Triple EffectsGel Memory Foam and Duet® Coil System with Best Edge® Foam Encasement. 3 models feature the SmartSupport® Memory Coil System.

Reviews of the three series and the models in the new collection will follow their release.
