Waterbed Manufacturers

Timewise, waterbeds come between innerspring mattresses and memory foam mattresses. Innersprings were invented in the late 1800s, and memory foam mattresses were successfully marketed by Tempur-Pedic in 1991, while waterbeds were first introduced into the market in 1971 and quickly became popular.

By the peak of waterbed market share in 1987, there were many manufacturers of waterbeds. The popularity of waterbeds has declined since then, but they now hold a steady place in mattress sales.
